Beating Blue Monday

Happy Blue Monday!

The third Monday of January was newly (as of 2005) dubbed Blue Monday, after taking into account Cliff Arnall's study done at Cardiff University. Arnall's study suggested that typically the third Monday of January was the most depressing day of the year.

The Festive season of cheer is over, the weather is generally terrible ( this Monday is no exception, can you say brrrrr!), your credit card bill is calling your name, and maybe you enjoyed a few too many holiday treats the last few weeks. All together this make up the perfect storm for feeling a little down.

But The 905 Sold Team has complied some suggestions to give that feeling a shake and turn today into a GREAT Monday!

1) Warm up and get your blood flowing:

Beat today's cold weather by taking part in a Hot Yoga Class! This work out offers a crazy amount of benefits for both your mind and body. It can help burn calories, reduce stress, ease depression and provide a cardiovascular boost.. just to name a few bonuses. Do a quick Google search to find classes happening near you!

2) Treat yourself:

This doesn't have to be something expensive, just do something to make YOU happy. Pick yourself up a small treat from your favourite bakery, grab a latte for an afternoon pick me up, or start that book you've been meaning to get to! Whatever it is, indulge a little and turn this Monday a little brighter.

3) Start a Gratitude jar:

A great practice to put into place today and carry on throughout 2020. The idea is to take time every day and reflect on things that made you smile, feel thankful, and made you feel loved. Write them down and add them to a special jar, keep doing this daily for a full year and think of how many lovely things you'll have to read next Blue Monday!

4) Pay it Forward with Compliments:

Make it your mission to give out five compliments today. You may not be the only one feeling a little down, and what better way to warm your heart than to make someone else smile. To make this tip even more fulfilling give those compliments out to strangers, there is nothing like a little confidence boost from someone you don't know!

5) Be productive:

Check back in with your New Years Resolutions, or the looming To Do list that you've had for months. You'll get some positive satisfaction from completing something you've been meaning to do for a while, or getting the wheels turning on something big you wanted to accomplish this year! Remember though Rome wasn't built in a day, don't be discouraged if you can't complete the task all at once. Keep the positive energy rolling and stay motivated!
