Burlington Loose Leaf collection

It’s that time of year again, the trees are changing to their beautiful fall colours and will soon leave us with all of beautiful colours on the ground. If you have an abundance of trees you know the struggle of having to rake your yard and then fill the dozens of brown yard bags, thankfully in Burlington they have their amazing Loose Leaf Collection system again this year to make your clean up that extra bit easier.

Just rake your debris to the curb and the city will take care of the rest! But of course we want to make their job a little less time consuming, I mean these amazing workers are spending their days walking the streets with a large vacuum so it’s the least we can do.

Make sure your pile of leaves are not covering catch basins or piled in the ditch, this helps prevent flooding. Another thing to watch out for is that there are no branches or other debris. The equipment that the city uses will be damaged if it sucks up any rocks, sticks, toys, garbage… basically anything other than leaves.

The morning of your collection be sure to clear away things like basketball/hockey nets, parked vehicles and anything else hanging out by the side of the road that would be an obstruction. And definitely don’t place garbage bags/bins, recycling or compost bins on top of the leaf piles.

And if you miss your Loose Leaf Collection day bust out those trusty brown waste bags and put them out on the curb the same day as your garbage collection. Or if you still looking to avoid the brown bag option give mulching them in your garden beds a try!

Collection begins November 4th, to find out when it’s your neighbourhoods turn visit: https://www.burlington.ca/en/services-for-you/leaf-collection.asp .
